Josef Rings and Erich Mendelsohn are two leading exponents of Modernism in Germany, and later in exile in Mandatory Palestine. They represent different architectural approaches with regard to content and form. One might even go as far as to say that Rings and Mendelsohn, respectively represented the ideologies of socialism and capitalism that shaped the twentieth century.<\/p>\n
On occasion of Bauhaus100 we created and presented this show in collaboration with Moses Mendelsohn Zentrum in Potsdam and Alte Synagoge Essen.<\/p>\n
The project was possible thanks to the support of \u201c100 years Bauhaus in the West\u201d \u2013 a joint project by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia and the regional bodies responsible for sustaining the rural culture of the region, namely the Landschaftsverb\u00e4nde Rheinland (LVR) and Westfalen-Lippe (LWL).<\/p>\n
