#25 – Rainer Raczinski

$53.00

״Bauhaus in the Land of Milk and Honey״, This poster shows a more classic design in the spirit of the well-known Bauhaus aesthetic, featuring an image of the Bauhaus Center. The large dot grid became popular as an ironic stylistic device in poster design after the introduction of digital printing technology around the turn of the millennium, thus referencing the period in which the Bauhaus Center was founded.

I find the slogan “Bauhaus in the land flowing with milk and honey” apt. At the time of its founding, Israel promised a utopian and libertarian future politically, sociologically, and culturally. This matched the Bauhaus, which at its founding also promised a social and cultural utopia and developed a corresponding aesthetic form. In retrospect, it is clear that a surprising number of these promises were fulfilled.

Rainer Raczinski, born in Berlin, studied Art and Photo Design at the HbK Kassel and Biology at the University of Kassel. His artistic focus is Polaroid photography, a medium he has used exclusively since the 1970s.
